Genetic parameters considering traits of importance for cassava biofortification

Twenty six sweet cassava clones were evaluated in two agricultural years, randomized block design, with 3 replications and plots 25 plants. The harvests at 12 months after planting, both years. traits root yield (RY), dry matter content (DMC), total carotenoids (TC), β-carotene (BC), trans-β-carotene (TrBC) cyanide (TCy). Genotype was significant (P<0.05) all traits. Broad-sense heritability estimates the plot level (hmg2 ) ranged from 77% (RY) to 93% (TC TrBC), while accuracy 0.88 0.96 (BC TrBC). genetic correlations among TC, BC TrBC high (0.96 0.99) significant, involving these TCy negative. These results demonstrate existence of great variability characteristics important biofortification and, consequently, perspectives breeding for this purpose.
